October 2005
It was my pleasure to have interviewed each of the Scholarship finalists. I was impressed with each of them. The Board of Directors and the Chair of Student Chapters, Joe Bohenkemper all conferred together to advise me on the the selections. The finalists were: John Boggio, of Southeast Missouri State University, and Tracy Papproth, Kathleen Nevin, Karen Huelsman, and David Hughes, all from Southwestern Illinois College. They all have excellent GPA's and achievements. We were honored to have them apply.
The winners are: David Hughes, Karen Huelsman, and Kathleen Nevin. The awards will be given on October 27 at Past President's Night meeting. The traits that we discovered in all the winners were their struggle to succeed and get an education, the determination that each of them has and the sincerity and ambition that we found in each of them. We discovered that they faced challenges and each of them in his or her own way overcame them to get the IT education of which they dreamed.
SyllogisTeks will award David Hughes. AITP-St. Louis Chapter will award Karen Huelsman and Kathleen Nevin. The topic of the night will be "Integrity in IT". Our panel members are:
