March 2005
The February meeting was another great experience. Shawn Travers of MicroSoft was our speaker and provided us with a great deal of information. What I was inspired by all the questions and interactive dialogue. Shawn encouraged the guests to take advantage of the new MicroSoft spyware protection software that is available on the MicroSoft website. He provided so many ways that the average user can keep personal computers safer from cyber fraud and spyware. He described how we are vulnerable and what we need to do to be protected. Along the same line of concern is our guest for March, Scott Aken. He is with the FBI and will provide a presentation about Cyber Fraud from the prospective of the FBI. Scott was present at Shawn's presentation to assure no duplication in what he will present this month. I am encouraging all of you reading our newsletter to come to our March 24 presentation. It will be both informative and inspirational.
We were so pleased that we had numerous students present at our meeting in February. We are focusing on student chapters in 2005. We will give a scholarship this year to a student and at each meeting collect for a 50/50 drawing. Half of the money collected goes to a guest present at the meeting, whose ticket is drawn, and the other half goes to the scholarship fund. The St. Louis AITP Chapter will match the funds collected this year from the 50/50 drawings to provide a significant scholarship this year.
Again there were conversations and exchanges of business cards at the cocktail and social hour before the dinner meeting last month. I circulated throughout the crowd and found so many interesting conversations taking place. Come, join in and benefit from the experience. We have so many interesting guests attending our meetings and we get to make new contacts every month.
I am asking again that if there is something that you want from AITP, please let us know. Our St. Louis Board of Directors will be available to hear your suggestions. Please let us know what you like about our meetings and what else we can do to make this experience rewarding. We want to be here for you. All of the St Louis Technical community is invited to attend, share our presentations and meet all the interesting guests.
Attitude is everything!! Attitude, literally determines our day to day and moment to moment experience in our work environments and our personal lives. As you proceed through your work week, notice how your personal results in the workplace will improve as your attitude improves. I will be speaking to this more and more in my President's messages. I look forward to seeing you on the 24th at the dinner meeting.
