'Tis the season to be merry. I would like, on behalf of your Board, to wish you and yours the very best of the season and may the New Year bring you all of your fondest wishes. As I am sure you already know December is so packed with other activities that we have decided not to further complicate your life with a meeting. Our next meeting will be January 20, 2005.
I would like to congratulate the officers for 2005: Shar Scoby, President; Kevin Shen, Vice President; John Zeman, Secretary; H. Lyndel Colburn, Treasurer; and Chris Leja, Chapter Liaison. I want to assure them that the membership is with them and will assist in the many tasks that are necessary for the organization to function at its best.
At our last meeting on November 18th, Mr. Randall Hauch, Vice President of Metamatrix, spoke about Eclipse, a tool which provides integrated development of data handling and storage applications. He presented a number of different aspects of handling web and data application development and ways to achieve the desired result.
The AITP National Conference and Annual Meeting of the Members took place with ISECON in Newport, Rhode Island November 4-7. Sue Morton, our past-president and a National Board member, was present at these sessions. I am sorry to report that Sue was sidelined by food poisoning and could not attend our November meeting. I am sure she will be happy to report on some of the exciting things that are happening at the national level of our organization at the January meeting.
With this President's message I step down and rejoin the rank and file of the members and friends of A.I.T.P. St. Louis Chapter. It has been an exciting time for me the last year and a half. We have tried to accomplish many things, predictably with varied results. I give the honor for all of the successes to the hard-working group of officers and committee chairs who have done such a tremendous job on your behalf. I would like to personally thank each of them: Shar Scoby Vice-President and your new President; Sue Morton, Past-President and National Board Member; John Zeman, Secretary and Committee Chair of Special Projects and Student Chapter Liaison; H. Lyndel Colburn, Treasurer; and Chris Leja, our Chapter Liaison and organizer of the East Side meetings. In addition to these officers I would like to recognize the tremendous effort put in by the committee Chairs: Gene Dultz, Meetings Chair; Kevin Shen, Public Relations and Advertising Chair; Minal Thakkar, Newsletter Editor; Aaron Nance, Webmaster; Charlie Meyer and Larisa Fak, Membership and Retention; Susan Yager, COPA and IPA; Charles H Schumacher, Finance; Harley Galloway & Alan Ayers, Professional Development. I would also like to thank the many others who helped on committees and those who supported our efforts by coming to the meetings and the other activities of the organization.
Again, as this is my last message to you as President. I want to thank everyone for all of the kindness and help I have received over the last year and a half. I look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship with all of you in the future. I hope to begin that by seeing you at the January 20th dinner meeting.
